Issue in Brief
Advocacy is vitally important to the mission and purposes of the Association for Childhood Education International (ACEI). ACEI's mission, "to promote and support in the global community the optimum education and development of children, from infancy through middle childhood, and to influence the professional growth of educators, and others who are committed to the needs of children in a changing society," is at the core of the Association. ACEI is committed to the universal ratification of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, the fulfillment of the Millennium Development Goals, Education for All by 2015, and many other causes supporting the education and well-being of children. ACEI is a nongovernmental organization (NGO) and has consultative status with the United Nations (UN) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). ACEI is represented and participates at UN Conferences. ACEI strongly advocates for children and supports our members who strive to improve the conditions for children throughout the world.
